Learn the basics of rug hooking using a pattern designed just for Kelowna. Heidi designed a California quail and grape leaf pattern that will give the you the skills you need to start creating beautiful hand hooks rugs and mats. No experience necessary. Bring a pair of craft scissors, a rug hook and a frame or quilting hoop if you have one. Heidi will also brings these items should you need them. Saturday night’s class will be a lecture on the history of rug hooking and she’ll also review the basic supplies for rug hooking. Sunday will be a full day of learning the basic rug hooking stitch and getting started on your quail project. For a photo of the project, see the GALLERY page.
Heidi will have her wool and supplies at Laura Pierce’s fabulous retreat on the beautiful Mendocino Coast in Little River, CA. Heidi has challenged her fellow attendees to hook a historical building from their own area. Let’s see what happens!

This fantastic fiber arts museum will be featuring a display of hooked rugs for the first time ever. The rugs were crafted by Heidi Grevstad, and the woman who first taught her to hook, Heidi’s mom Barbara Sendt. The exhibit will display a wide array of hooking styles from primitives to folky landscapes to fine shaded florals and geometrics.
Join me for a fun day of hooking my Simple Sunflower pattern. We’ll focus on some fun and fancy stitches to embellish your pieces. The class is suitable for beginners on up!
